converting video files

does anyone know how to create dvds using .wmv or .asf video files. i've tried importing them into imovie, but it seems it doesn't support this file type.

is there a way to convert these files to .mpg, or other file types that mac will recognize?

i'm new to mac, and still trying to figure things out. any help would be much appreciated.

Hello,

I am wondering if there is a way to get that video format into Quicktime. Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to work with video much; my hardware is too old, and the ideas I had worked fine yesterday.

I wonder if Premier will do what you want. But it is a commercial expensive program.

Is there a Mac version of Windows Media Player? You may have to install that to get the codecs you need.
