Persistent Safari Dock Icon

I don't use Safari much, so I took it out of my dock soon after getting my machine. However, the safari dock icon still manages to make it back onto my dock every now and then. Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas how to keep it from reappearing on the dock?

Just to make sure..

Is it appearing in the same place in the dock as where you removed it?
Does it always reappear or sometimes reappear?
It's not appearing over on the right side of your dock near the divider, is it?
