need to convert an appleworks file

This school office switched from Macs to PC's recently. There were some documents that needed to be transfered to the PC. They saved them with a .txt and then copied them to the PC. For the most part that worked except for one file. It is an evaluation form(the others were straight text, nothing fancy).

Is there another way to get this appleworks file to be read by MS Word on a PC?

Mac OS is 9.1
