Renaming files on Tiger desktop

I have had a hard time trying to change the names of my files on the Tiger desktop. Can somebody give me a tip?http://www.daniweb.com/techtalkforum...on_twisted.gif

Which files? It should be very easy to rename them. Just selec the file and hit Return to change to the renaming scheme. Name as appropriate and hit Return. Done.

Some files are harder to rename, for example if the permissions are messed up. For that, it requires a trip to the Terminal:

mv startingfilename newfilename

Note that this method requires you to know the extension at the end of the file, and also you must cd to the directory that contains the file.
