MacPro: PDs' dont open in Firefox - Help

Hi
I had a G4 for years and I had no problems opening PDFs. Now I have a new MacPro Book and in my Firefox browser, I can't open documents. It just lead to an empty page. I have downloaded some plug ins but it does not help. :-(
