"Burn" app for Mac OS X

There was(is) this nifty little freeware app I used for OS 9 named "Burn 2.5";
I'm needing to know if there's a OS X equivalent available today.
(This app basically wrote over free space or designated files with
ones or zeroes.) Thanks!

If you're running Panther, "Secure Empty Trash" is a removal and 3 (or more) time overwrite of the disk space the file(s) occupied. It's built into the OS.
