mac password

hi i have lost my master password when i try to change my password it keeps asking for my old password if i try a restore it asks for the password and wont run the disk i have tried varios methods posted on google nothing seems to work all i want to do is install peopard
can anybody help ps i didnt grow up with computers so not too tech please ian

use the install disks (boot from them by holding down the C key on power on) and fire up password reset. If that don't work, use disk utility to erase the HD.
