I scanned with MBA-M today and it came up clean. The problem appears to be gone for good. Thanks again for your help! Hopefully it will be a LONG while before I will have to ask for it again.

I'll mark the thread as solved.

You're probably sick of me at this point but another problem came up out of nowhere today. Noticed some general slowdown (and later search engine redirecting) and tried to run MBA-M but it will not start. I also tried in safe mode without any luck. Attempted to use the ESET Online Scanner site but for one reason or another it will not load.

In the Windows Task Manager CPU usage is at 100% so I get the feeling this is why MBA-M is not loading. I'm kind of clueless as to where to go from here. Any help at all would be great. Here is my HJT log:

Ok, Here is one of your problems
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CTEMON.EXE] "" /h This is the Troj/FakeAv-FU Trojan.
And these:O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Kxupehudafug] rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\Ajowofuqoqiwo.dll",e
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Atewop] rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\ifeqowaqifi.dll",e
Honestly don't know if this will work but cannot hurt to try it.
Please try the following routine given in the MBA-M forum to see if you can get Malwarebytes to run.

* Click on Start, click Run, and then type devmgmt.msc and click OK
* On the View menu click on Show hidden devices
* Browse to Non-Plug and Play Drivers and you should see something like TDSSserv.sys
* Highlight that driver and right click on it and select DISABLE
* Now RESTART your computer.

* Then go to the SCANNER tab and run a Full System and allow MBAM to fix anything found.

Thanks! That got MBA-M running. I ran HJT and deleted what you said then ran MBA-M and cleaned up what it found.

Going to run SDFix, ComboFix and ESET Scanner again as a precaution.

NO! NO! Don't run combofix. You have to wait until I can see some logs that indicate that may be needed.
Run the ESET scanner yes, but post back here with the MBA-M log and a new HJT log before doing the other two...especially combofix.
That is one tool which NEVER should be run unless directed to do so.
Judy

Ah, ok. I had already run SDFix before I read this. In order I ran MBA-M, SDFix, ESET, MBA-M and HJT. ESET came up clean and the lastest second MBA-M and came up clean as well. Here are the newest MBA-M and HJT logs.

Did anyone happen to have a chance to look at this?

Still some problems lurking. I noticed Google search engine results redirecting today but MBA-M came up clean. Bizarre. Here are MBA-M and HJT logs I just ran. Any help would be BEYOND amazing as I already owe a great debt to this forum.

If you still have combofix on the computer you MUST REMOVE it this way before you do anything else.
* Click START then RUN
* Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK. Note the space between the X and the U, it needs to be there.
When shown the disclaimer, Select "2"

Next
* Click on Start, click Run, and then type devmgmt.msc and click OK
* On the View menu click on Show hidden devices
* Browse to Non-Plug and Play Drivers and you should see something like TDSSserv.sys
* Highlight that driver and right click on it and select DISABLE
* Now RESTART your computer.

Now update MBA-M and run a Full System Scan with it.
Remove everything found.
RESTART the Computer.

AFTER the computer has restarted then run a new full system scan with HJT and post back here with the MBA-M log and the HJT log.

I am not seeing that under Non-Plug and Play Drivers. I'm showing:

AEGIS Protocol (IEEE 802.1x) v3.4.7.0
AFD
ArcNet NDIS Protocol Driver
ASCTRM
Beep
catchme
dmboot
dmload
Fips
Generic Packet Classifier
HTTP
IP Network Address Translator
IP Traffic Filter Driver
EPSEC driver
KR10N
ksecdd
McAfee Inc. (multiple of this)
mnmdd
mountmgr
MPFP
NDIS System Driver
NDIS Usermode I/O Protocol
NDProxy
NetBios over Tcpip
Null
OUJZPWWJ
PartMgr
ParVdm
RDPCDD
Remote Access Auto Connection Driver
Remote Access IP ARP Driver
Remote Access NDIS TAPI Driver
Serial
TCP/IP Protocol Driver
TOSHIBA Network Device Usermode I/O Protocol
VgaSave
VolSnap

Also, one thing I forgot got to mention is that whenever I start up my computer the "C:/Windows/System32" folder is automatically open and I'm not sure why.

You know this has been going on nearly 30 days. Each time that you run MBA-M it shows up next time in start ups of HJT log, which is not what it is supposed to do. Then a couple days go by and you come back infected again. Either the programs are not being run correctly or something you are doing is reinfecting the computer.
Do this again please:
Download ComboFix, You will get a prompt asking if you want to run or save the file. Choose SAVE and save it to the desk top. DO NOT RUN it YET
We are almost ready to start ComboFix, but before we do so, we need to take some preventative measures so that there are no conflicts with other programs when running ComboFix. At this point you should do the following:

* Close all open Windows including this one.
* Close or disable all running Antivirus, Antispyware, and Firewall programs as they may interfere with the proper running of ComboFix.

Once these two steps have been completed, double-click on the ComboFix icon found on your desktop. Please note, that once you start ComboFix you should not click anywhere on the ComboFix window as it can cause the program to stall. In fact, when ComboFix is running, do not touch your computer at all and just take a break as it may take a while for it to complete.
Windows may issue a prompt because ComboFix does not have a digital signature. This is perfectly normal and safe and you can click on the Run button to continue.
ComboFix is now preparing to run and when it has finished you will see the Disclaimer screen you should press the number 1 key and then press the enter key to continue.
ComboFix will now start scanning your computer for known infections. This procedure can take some time, so please be patient.
While the program is scanning your computer, it will change your clock format, so do not be concerned when you see this happen. When ComboFix is finished it will restore your clock settings to what they were previously. You will also see the text in the ComboFix window being updated as it goes through the various stages of its scan.

When ComboFix has finished running, you will see a screen stating that it is preparing the log report
This can take a while, so please be patient. If you see your Windows desktop disappear, do not worry. This is normal and ComboFix will restore your desktop before it is finished. Eventually you will see a new screen that states the program is almost finished and telling you the programs log file, or report, will be located at C:\ComboFix.txt.
When ComboFix has finished, it will automatically close the program and change your clock back to its original format. It will then display the log file automatically
You should now post this log here when all is complete.

oops, double post. didn't think the first one showed up.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (reboot)] "C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe" /runcleanupscript

You didn't reboot after running MBA-M did you?
That is ok, there was nothing to clean up but please remember to ALWAYS do that.
Are things running better?

Yes, I made sure I rebooted after running MBA-M (because I don't think I was before). Everything seems like it is running much smoother, the system32 folder is no longer popping up and the search engine results are back to normal.

Thanks again for your help! Fingers crossed this is the last you hear from me.

You aren't finished yet.
You should remove HiJackThis, you don't need it any more.

You need to uninstall combofix.
* Click START then RUN
* Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK. Note the space between the X and the U, it needs to be there.
When shown the disclaimer, Select "2"
You also need to set a new, clean Restore point.
To do this Right Click My computer.
Choose Properties
When System Properties opens choose the System Restore Tab.
Place a check mark in Shut down System Restore.
You will probably get a message telling you it will be shut down, click ok or yes.
Allow it to shut down.
Wait a moment. Then go back in and take that check mark Out so that System Restore will turn back on.

Ok, great. I uninstalled Combofix & HijackThis and set a new restore point. Hopefully it will be smooth sailing from here on out. Anything else that I should do?

No, you should be good to go. Just watch where you surf, what you download and continue to use your anti-virus program and MBA-M weekly at least. You can mark this solved.
Judy

I have barely even touched my computer in the past 4 days but problems are STILL lurking.

Today my computer inexplicably shutdown and would not restart. I was receiving a blue screen with an error message that would immediately shut it down (it would shut down before I had enough time to read the error.) Eventually it restarted but now I have noticed that search engine results are being redirected. I updated and ran MBA-M and it came up clean.

A HJT scan is below but since this problem doesn't seem to want to go away would it make sense at this point to use my system restore disc, restore my computer to factory settings and start from scratch? I have an external hard-drive to copy files that can't be replaced and it would just be a matter of re-installing and re-downloading other programs. It would be time consuming but if it would solve the problem it seems like that might be the best bet. Let me know what you think when you have a moment. Thank you!

Since this has been going on 34 days, I think that is probably your best bet. Especially since you have a way to back up everything.
Judy

Ok, great. That's what I will do then. Thank you for all of your help!

Sorry we couldn't find a way to wipe out this sucker!
