Can anyone help a novice fix a few problems? I've run ad-aware, spybot S&D, housecall, and a few other programs. I was able to remove Java nocheat (I think) but Spybot is still coming up with callinghomebiz, IGetNet, and 2 entries for Common Hijacker. I remove and quarantine but they keep coming back. I've removed some files manually but don't know what to do now. Here are my hijack this results...

Download LSPFix from here:
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
Unzip to your desktop, and then run it.

1. Check "I know what I'm doing".
2. Click on (highlight) dolsp.dll
3. Then click ">>" to move it to the 'Remove' pane.
4. Double-check, and make sure that only the above file is in the 'Remove'pane.
5. Click "Finish >>"

Before fixing anything with hijackthis, it needs to be in it's own permanent folder; right now you have it in a temp folder. Please move it to a folder such as c:\HJT\hijackthis.exe

Whenever you scan with HJT, close all browser windows first. After you move it, please post a new log.

Thanks! Did that and here's my new hijack this log...

Good job so far! :)

Go to Add/Remove Programs in your Control Panel and remove the following (if found):

VBouncer (or BundleOuter)
Web Offer

Scan with HJT and have it fix the following entries:
(Note: some entries may no longer be here after using Add/Remove Programs)

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [eZWO] C:\PROGRA~1\Web Offer\wo.exe

Be sure all windows are closed, other the HJT, before hitting the Fix button

Go to the following and remove the highlighted file or folder (if found):

C:\WINDOWS\isrvs
C:\WINDOWS\farmmext.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\kmvkkr.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\nsvsvc
C:\WINDOWS\system32\picsvr
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ujyoxj.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\n20050308.exe
C:\Program Files\VBouncer

Do a search on your 'C' drive for Web Offer and delete the folder

Empty your Recycle Bin

Reboot, close any open browser windows, scan with HJT and post a new log please

Is your ISP AOL or Earthlink?

If this doesn't clear it up, or if problems return, I believe we will need to use some VX2/Look2Me removal tools.

Ok, here's what I have now...

If you didn't set this as your start page, have HJT fix this as well:
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.peegs.com/

Be sure all windows are closed, other the HJT, before hitting the Fix button

Go to the following location and remove the highlighted file or folder (if found):

C:\Program Files\SpamBlockerUtility
C:\WINDOWS\system32\anhubbfu.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\kmvkkr.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\k0nola531d.dll

For every User listed under C:\Documents and Settings, delete the entire contents of these folders (not the folders themselves):

Local Settings\Temp
Cookies
History
Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5

Delete the entire contents of your C:\Windows\Temp folder.

Delete the entire contents of your C:\Temp folder (if you have one).

Do a search for *.tmp and delete all entries found.

(Note: if any of these temporary files cannot be deleted while in ‘normal mode,’ try Safe Mode.

Empty your Recycle Bin.

Reboot

You may get a message asking if you wish to send an error report to Microsoft, if you do, you can choose either option.

Close any open browser windows, scan with HJT and post a new log please.

Thank you! Here's what we've got now. I see that a few of the entries that HJT fixed came back when I rebooted...

Run LSPFix again
1. Check "I know what I'm doing".
2. One at a time, click on (highlight) each occurance of dolsp.dll, and then click ">>" to move it to the 'Remove' pane.
4. Double-check to make sure that only the above file is in the 'Remove' pane, and that all instances of it have been moved there (four according to the above log).
5. Click "Finish >>"

Reboot into Safe Mode

Scan with HJT and have it fix the following entries:

O1 - Hosts: 69.20.16.183 auto.search.msn.com
O1 - Hosts: 69.20.16.183 search.netscape.com

Go to the following location and delete the highlighted file or folder:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\kmvkkr.exe
C:\WINDOWS\isrvs

Reboot normally

Close all browser windows, scan with HJT, and post a new log please. I'm afraid some of these may return so I'm going to enlist the help of one of the other moderators here.

Ok, I did that but it wouldn't let me delete C:\WINDOWS\system32\kmvkkr.exe. It said it was write protected or in use. I also couldn't find the WINDOWS/isrvs file. I did a search but nothing came up there either. I was able to do everything else and rebooted but I see some of them are back on the HJT log again...

Thank you for your help!

I have a question... why is the kmvkkr.exe file there when I start in safe mode but when I reboot normally, that file is nowhere to be found?

I have a question... why is the kmvkkr.exe file there when I start in safe mode but when I reboot normally, that file is nowhere to be found?

I'm afraid I can't answer that, but try this to delete it:

Reboot into Safe Mode

Open hijackthis and go to Misc Tools

Click on the Delete a file on reboot... button and paste C:\WINDOWS\system32\kmvkkr.exe into the line. When asked to reboot, do so (in normal mode)

Scan with HJT and have it fix the O1 entries again, then post a new log

I found something else...

Download CWShredder from here:

http://www.intermute.com/spysubtract/cwshredder_download.html

Unzip to your desktop, run it, and then:

1. Click "Check For Update"
(If an update isn't available, skip to step 4)

2. Click "Click here to Download the upate"

3. When the new version has been downloaded, click "Save"

4. Click "Fix"

If it asks you to verify any files to be deleted, either do a Google search for it/them or ask us here before deleting.

Ok, here it is. There's just no getting rid of this thing!

Some of your logs have shown signs of the evil Bube.d infection. You should run a scan/fix with KAV anti-virus and Microsoft Antispyware; they're currently the only programs we know of which can actually deal with the infection. Please read CalamityJane's post in the link below for description of the infection and directions for using the KAV and MS Antispyware utilities:

http://www2.dslreports.com/forum/remark,12688162~mode=flat

Once you do the scans/fixes, run HJT again and post a fresh log

Well I can't seem to run the Kav program. I disabled McAfee, it says it's disabled, but Kav still says it's running and my computer locks up.

That "we" didn't include me because I wasn't aware of this! Thanks Dave!

Well I can't seem to run the Kav program. I disabled McAfee, it says it's disabled, but Kav still says it's running and my computer locks up.

A couple of things you can try... go into msconfig and disable McAfee from there, or, boot into Safe Mode and try running KAV.

Ok, I was able to run KAV and it deleted dolsp.dll. Then I rebooted in regular mode and scanned with HJT. Here's the log...

natenatmom,

The last log you posted looks like it's only a partial; there should be more to it. Can you try again please?

Ok, let's see if this is any better...

1. In addition to KAV, were you able to download and run the Microsoft utility? If not, please do so now and post a new log.

Also:

You have morphing/changing "O20 - Winlogon Notify:" entries in your log, which indicate an infection that HJT alone isn't going to be able to fix.

Please do the following:

Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

http://www.atribune.org/downloads/l2mfix.exe
http://www.downloads.subratam.org/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Alright, here it is (and I ran the microsoft utility a second time just now and it found 5 other things it didn't earlier)...

L2MFIX find log 1.03

OK, thanks- that helps.

I need to log off for the night now though, but I'll come back to this tomorrow.

Ok, thank you! Hopefully we can get rid of this thing... well you, I'm not doing anything but following instructions! lol

Right then- time to move on. We're going to run L2MFix again, but this time actually have it perform its fixes rather than just perform a scan.

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Ok, here's the L2MFix log. I'll do HJT next.

OK, we're getting closer.

1. Have HJT fix:

O1 - Hosts: 69.20.16.183 search.netscape.com
O1 - Hosts: 69.20.16.183 ieautosearch
O1 - Hosts: 69.20.16.183 auto.search.msn.com
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINDOWS\system32\kmvkkr.exe

2. Again: try to delete C:\WINDOWS\system32\kmvkkr.exe; use Safe Mode if necessary.

3. For the "01" entries:

Open your C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file in Notepad and look for any entries related to 69.20.16.183.

A normal hosts file will contain only some comment lines (which begin with a "#") and the following IP->URL map line:

127.0.0.1 localhost

If there are further entries in the hosts file, they should be deleted.

4. Post a new log.

Ok, here is the hosts file. Should I delete all those 127.0.0.1 entries since they say something other than local host at the end?

Should I delete all those 127.0.0.1 entries...

In this case, no.

The hosts file can be used for good things and bad things; in your case the entries are helpful:

Those entries have been added by SpyBot and/or another anti-spyware program as a protection measure against sites known to deliver pop-ups and other unwanted content.
