Logging out causes freeze

Expand Post »
Hi all!

I'm having trouble with logging out of my account (on a RedHat system), in that it freezes everytime and I always have to shutdown manually.
I had trouble with this for a long time and now I can't even login properly - all that shows up on the display are a bunch of dialog boxes with text that I can't see (too small) and I can't do anything (can't open a terminal, log out or anything!)

Please help!

Re: Logging out causes freeze

We need a little more info on how you are logging in and out. To a graphical client? Or to the command line? Which windowing system are you using? KDE, Gnome, or another?

You say your system freezes, but you log out manually? What command do you use, and how do you get to the command prompt?

Details are important when talking about Linux, as there are many ways to do things.
