linux partitioning

can anyone help i have a 8.2gb usb stick and i like to give it 2 partitions, i have heard that linux can do this if so what is the command, i have ubuntu 9

i tried to do the partition (from info i got on other forums) what a disaster i changed my c drive from a almost full 30g c drive to a completely unused 30g fat32 c drive, haha needless to say i am busy reloading all the OS's that i have ruined
and no one even tried to give me help
