Fedora Core 4.0 - Installing a I/O Magic DVD+/- RW Drive

Expand Post »
I have installed an I/O Magic DVD RW Dual Layer writer and I went to mount the device and received a message - "Cannot mount device unknown file system", I would like to know what might casue this message; might I just try another OEM or is this something that can be worked out. I am familiar with how things work and I want to try and save myself some time. I have all cables (sound, data, and power snug; jumper on master) checked off and no other drive existing. Maybe drivers, no support from OEM Windows support--this does not mean that it cannot be ran on Linux or does it? This is my appeal to the powers that be for a solution or recommendation for what might work from prior experience. Oh yeah, Dell box, P4, 2.4 Ghz, 256 RAM and 80 Gig HD, just a toy to tinker with. I want to get the bug out of the machine so that I can package other projects. Let the brainstorm begin!
