sever vs pc ?

Expand Post »
I wanna setup a home sever so all my PCs at home can have a central storage plus one network printer. I would like to install either freeBSD or fedora 7... I am new to all these and trying to learn. What machine would you suggest me to buy? a actual server or just a pc is enough? if a server is better, any recommendation? Less than $500 would be a good price for my first experiment.

Thank you

Re: sever vs pc ?

Hi, I have done a similar thing like this at home. I bought a $100 PC, installed Ubuntu on it and experimented with it. If your new and trying to learn, you could use an old computer if you have one spare, so you can experiment and get familiar with setting up server apps.
