hi people I am trying to set up a dns server using red hat 9 but i will use windows xp pc to connect to it. Any Ideas?? help is much appericiated.

You will probably come up with a few files in /etc that define your domain.

There are actually easier ways to setup a DNS server...bind is just the most accepted and most popular.
What you need to do is really, really research what you want to do. Many google searches and sifting will get you far in what you want to accomplish.
I suggest you research BIND 9 (most popular) and Webmin (a tool to use) for its administration.
