i started using fedora with GNOME desktop then i just tried KDE, then when i switched back to GNOME it just displayed the desktop background then the applications wont appear. I usually do ctrl+alt+F1 to reboot by computer. I want to use my GNOME desktop again. pls help. thanks

Try doing a switchdesk Gnome. After that log out an login. If this doesn't solve the issue I would suggest to re-install GNOME environment using the installation CD/DVD.
