Hi,
I used to use ie as my main web browser. Then 2 days ago, it just stop working. When i click on the ie icon, no window, nothing start anymore. So i jhave to d/l netscape and use it.

IE works fine under guest login accnt though.

I use Adaware 6 to clean up cookie/spyware regularly and i don't think that caused tghe problem.

I also use CWshredder and Spybot Search and Destroy and IE still doesn't want to start.

So i'm in need of your opinions / help.

I'm running WinXP pro SP1, IE version 6 SP1
Pentium 2.8 GHz 512 DDR RAM , NVidia 5200 FX

Here's the hijack this log if that could help:

Thx in advance.

I don't know about why it stopped working. If it was my system I would just count my blessings and download Firefox or something. If you're really attached to IE I'm sure someone here has a fix for you, hang in there . :)

Well, it still works on the guest accnt so , must be something with my user setting. But it was wokring fine.. then BAMM.... no erroe mesage.. nothing, just won't start.

OK I have found a fix myself. When i check the hijackthis log, i come across google bar for IE, so i uninstall it from Windows Uninstall and my IE start!!!!
BTW I just d/l Firefox and start to use it. I seem to like it so far. Thx for the suggestion.
* I like to stay within the ost popular web browser just for the support and availibility. But if Firefox is much better than IE..... then i'll switch to it for sure.

OK MOD, please close this thread. Thx

I recently had a similar problem using Windows XP, SP3, Iexplore Ver 6. Except in my case Explorer would not start in any user account. The problem turned out to be a virus, which I was able to remove/repair using the Avast anti-virus program. Avast was not installed on the computer prior to time the computer was infected, so the problem was not due to a failure of Avast in identifying the virus initially.

Just thought I would add this note for the benefit of anyone who happens to browse this thread. BTW I have absolutely no connection with the company that sells Avast. Probably any good anti-virus software would have worked just as well.
