I try to play DVDs on my Windows Media Player 11 and I cannot get a sound. The picture is fine. Where can I get a free codec (and it should be free as the software is not doing what it says it should do) in order to get sound?

Check your Audio Mixer settings.

Yes I have checked the Audio Mixer settings they are all on. I have also got the right country setting for my region. By the way I am running Windows XP professional. The problem only occurs with WMP, not with VLC media player.

You can download K-Lite Codec Pack, it might help. Because the problem is most likely a missing codec. K-Lite is free and has a lot, so go for it.
