This is kind of fun.....
I kind of feel like Rocky after he just got his butt kicked by Clubber Lang - Mr. T to you nonrockyafficiandos :) (my webserver was just taken out due to a virus/hacker and I'm in the process of resurrecting it) The only fault was my own, I don't even blame the virus/hacker, you leave a system that wide open, something is bound to happen.
Anyways. I'm beefing up the security on my webserver/home network environment, hence the analogy to rocky. Just got knocked out...time to get back up. Right now I'm in the trainning for the rematch! In my quest to lock down the server here, I came across a technology called Network Intrusion Detection Services, and did some quick reading.
I came across a program called snort. It's free, open source, and quickly updated for potential threats. Wanted to get other reviews on the software. From the reviews of it, it sounds like its pretty sound software. Anyone else deployed snort before?
