Just wondering, how do i actually adjust the memory to be used by an application, i have a software that usually uses 500k but drops to 50k now. and it usually goes not responding.

As far as I know there's no way. The program will use what it needs to and the OS will manage providing it.
If your software is dropping to virtually no memory usage and not responding it means it's crashed. Try reinstalling it.
