Look here or here for more information about the phone. Mpeg & Mpeg-4 (mp4 format) is the standard. So you would want to rip your DVD into that format. Unfortunately I can't advise on what ripping or converter software to use as I haven't tried to do it yet (I have the same phone and for the moment I am content just listening to music on it when on the train or bus :-)).
I do think it should be able to handle other file formats as well tho, basically anything that's been Xvid encoded. Have you tried to play any of your films on ur HD on the TyTN with no success?
