Had to re-install Win Me because of corrupted file(s). After the install, IE 6.0 will not update, stuck with 5.5. 6.0 install starts and repeatedly hangs with statement install could not be completed, try again. I assume, some IE 6.0 files were overwritten with the Windows Me re-install. How can I get 6.0 updates? Do I need to get XP OS and by-pass the problem? Help!

I would zero out the drive to make sure that you have taken care of the problem then re-load Win ME and try the IE 6.0.
If you have a western digital hard drive this is relatively easy and straight forward possess. You can go to this link and download the software to do this. You’ll need a floppy disk.
