Amazon context sensitve adverts

Hi

This is really to do with HTML coding, I think. I have an Affliliates account with Amazon. What is happening on my website is that the Amazon code is picking up individal names and finding something to sell related to that name. A link is generated when the browser opends the page. I have found by trial and error that the exclamatiom mark tag at the front and end of the name will stop the link being generated. But this not applicable to all the main browsers.

My first question is (I failed to find out from Amazon) how does one stop certain words from my web page being used by the Amazon code, which I presume is javascript.

My second question is what HTML code can be be used to protect a text string from turning into a hyperlink?
