IE remember password causes login errors

I accidentally enabled the remember password feature in IE5.5 while logging into my mailbox. I mistyped a character and, consequently, redirected me to an error page. I turned off the remember password feature to correct the supplied password but it won't let me in again; even if I supplied the correct password (eg. typing the password on notepad and paste it on the textbox) still leads me to the login error page. I tried using MOzilla and I am able to get in. How do I delete the password cache file? Does anyone know the actual file(s) it store to.

I'm using IE 6 so it might be different but if it's not. Goto Internet Tools, click the content tab and then the autocomplete button and then clear passwords.
