MS XP, AOL 8 and IE problem

I have a network a just 2 machines, one running XP and the other 2000, both connect to the internet via a Dlink 604+ ADSL router using AOL as the ISP.

My problem is that I can not use IE on the XP machine, IE times-out.

Any suggestions?
