help with microsoft access 2007

i have file that is named record.mdb and i want to open it using microsoft access but when i try i get message that is could not lock file how can i open it

My first question is where is the file you are trying to open? By that I mean is it on a CD or something that you cannot write to. When access opens a DB it creates a .ldb file in the same directory. In your case the file would be called record.ldb. If there is a record.ldb in the directory with the record.mdb file you could try removing it and let access recreate it.
