More information would be helpful, like which updates you have installed.XP-Service Pack 1, for example or which patches have been applied against IE (Help->About will provide that).

That having been said, I suspect that your Java Virtual Machine has been corrupted or switched off--TeamTalk, for example, uses Java applets for scrollies. Try to download and install the Sun Java Runtime Engine --it's more compatible and complete, anyway.

I had the same problem too. But finaly i found the problem that I explained in french.
