To edit in boot.ini, Please follow below the steps..
1. Right click on "my computer" and go to its properties option.
2.Go to the "Advance" Tab and click on bottom last "settings" button under startup & recovery .
3. Here you will get an option"To edit start up file manual click edit" and click on Edit button
4.Now you will get a text file
5.just copy below the text into the text file..

timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
