Hi guys I tried to fix this myself all day today, but i just have no idea whats wrong. When I am connected directly through the modem Internet connection is active, but browsers don't load. I went on cmd and typed ipconfig and my ip came up, but when i tried to ping google.com it didn't work. The weird thing is if I connect through the router the internet works. I run Windows Xp Pro SP2, road runner cable, Linksys befsr41 router, networked with 3 other computers. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi Proverb,

Are you using a static IP or DHCP? An improperly configured static IP will produce these issues.

If you could copy/paste an ipconfig/all result from both methods of connection I'm sure we could fix this.
