Try The Gimp

It's open source so it's free.

Can you do it on paper? If not, you probably cannot do it on computer. I know someone that draws her image in pencil, goes over it in ink, then scans and colors it. She does an excellent job.

For what it sounds like you want to do, Windows Paint can do it. No downloading, no legalities other than Microsoft's Windows license, and enough tools to get you started.

If you just want to try it, Paint Shop Pro is an excellent program to use. Personally, I like using version 4.12, just because it's what I'm comfortable with. I only need to do a few things with images, as I'm no graphic artist. It's shareware, so you're not out any money if you find you don't like it.

I'll second that.

You should also have a look at the Free Software Foundation's repository . They have a lots of freeware programs of many different types (unfortunately for Windows users though, many of the programs don't have Windows versions).

You would know.

Your computer would be slow, you will see porn sites in your favorites, an increase of popups, and maybe a hijacked browser.

go to housecall.trendmicro.com for a free virus scan.

Unfortunately, it found one last night. Fortunately, it does work. (It only found it because I was bragging about my safe searching habits. Proxomitron and Mozilla=very few hassles.)

Sphyenx ,

Have a look through the threads in our Security forum to find out where to get and how to use the standard (and free) "spyware" detection and removal utilites; links to some of them are in my sig file, but please read the configuration instructions for them in the Security threads to learn how to use them most effectively.

If you do find that malicious programs are the cause of your problems, please start a new thread in the Security forum. In that thread, give us as much information as possible about what you've done and found and our security experts will help you out from there.
