Re: Internet Explorer is not working - Firefox is

reinstall ie and if firefox works why not use that. Oh try a program called zilla soft connection accelerator which will choose the best settings based on your internet connection. it is a free program from http://www.zillasoft.ws.

Re: Internet Explorer is not working - Firefox is

crunchie,
yes, I pushed apply button and then ok button - but the enabled proxy setting always comes back...

mikeandike22,
I've already tried to reinstall IE, but the installation program needs to connect to the web and that's where it also fail (I guess the installation uses the same connection path as the actual IE).
Firefox is working fine and I use it for the most of web accesses - unfortunately there are still pages that only shows correctly in IE. Besides that, windows update site only accepts IE.

But I'll try proxomitron and zilla soft.
Thanks a lot, guys!!

Re: Internet Explorer is not working - Firefox is

Hello everyone who is having difficulty with Internet Explorer. I to had a similar issue recently. Hopefully my fix works for you!

In the tool tab, Internet Options. Lan Settings, I had to uncheck the proxy server and check the Automatically detect settings.

I have Cable internet, but I have had DSL in the past, the one thing that I think through my system for a loop is the FlashGet download manager that I installed. After installing I was eager to use the new tool. In IE, I typed CTRL + ALT + click the link, just as the quick help stated and that is when my trouble began.

Re: Internet Explorer is not working - Firefox is

I also noticed that the SSH Tunnel that I was using, when set to my startup would change my proxy settings automatically.

Once I took this out of my startup, I no longer had any issues with the proxy settings changing.

I hope this helps!

Re: Internet Explorer is not working - Firefox is

Hmm... this sounds like a familiar bug with Microsoft... Which SP do you have and do you update? If you do, then stop! It would be best to leave Microsoft XP the way it was when it was first installed or/and simply instal XP SP2. it isn't a virus, it is simple microsoft stuffing up their updates.

If that doesn't solve your problems... dont scan for virus, get an adware/malware/wateverware scanner. i.e. Spybot search and destroy.

I believe it is internet related, not virus related

Re: Internet Explorer is not working - Firefox is

Hello all,

After 2 weeks of googling to find a solution to this IE problem that ur talking about, i finally discovered and fixed the problem MYSELF... Now your case could be different than mine, but let hope not.... The problem is ur firewall.... Open ur personal firewall, and make sure that IE IS allowed to access the network. And that should fix it. If i helped u, u can send me an e-mail on richard_chaaya2@yahoo.com ; thanks and GOOD LUCK...
