IE hijack (your-searcher.com; win min)

Expand Post »
My IE got hijacked a few days ago, and I have been really frustrated since then. I cannot change the home page and am forced to end the program "Win Min" whenever I tried to shut down my laptop. I have run Adaware, Spybot, and CWSredder in safe mode as well as in normal mode with no avail. I have also used Hijackthis several times to delete the R0-R1 entries, but they would come right back. Could someone please help me? Thank you in advance. My HJT log file is as follows:

Re: IE hijack (your-searcher.com; win min)

You have a CWS infection, please download and run CWShredder from here:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads...CWShredder.exe

Then close all browser windows, scan with HJT, and post a new log.

Thank you very much for the reply. I don't have my infected laptop with me at the moment, but as I mentioned in the original post, I did use CWShredder (v.1.591) a few times both in normal mode and in safe mode. So the HJT log I posted is the one scanned after I had used CWShredder (as well as AdAare and SpyBot).

Did you update CWShredder before running it?

Yes- Merijn (the original author of CWShredder) has sold the program to InterMute, and they have a newer version available. You can download it here:

Re: IE hijack (your-searcher.com; win min)

In terms of your log, bear with us- this might take a couple of tries:

!! First and foremost, your log indicates that you aren't running any anti-virus software at all. Before doing anything else, visit the following 2 sites and use their free online anti-virus scans:

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/hous...start_corp.asp
http://www.pandasoftware.com/actives..._principal.htm

After that:

1. Have HijackThis fix the following:

2. - Reboot into safe mode (you get to the safe mode boot option by hitting the F8 key as your computer is starting up)

- Open Windows Explorer, and in the Folder Options->View settings under the Tools menu, select "show hidden files and folders", and uncheck "Hide protected operating system files".

- Delete all of the following files:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ajo.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\netcgf.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\iecust.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\xpsp2fw.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\o9q09.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuclient.exe
c:\windows\yjpaffg.exe

- For every user account listed under C:\Documents and Settings, delete the entire contents of these folders:

1. Local Settings\Temp
2. Cookies
3. History
4. Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5

- Delete the entire content of your C:\Windows\Temp folder.

Note- If you get any messages concerning the deletion of system files such as desktop.ini or index.dat, just choose to delete those files; they'll be automatically regenerated by Windows if needed. Windows will allow you to delete the versions of those files which exist in sub-folders within the main Temp/Temorary folders, but might not let you delete the versions of those files that exist in the main Temp folders themselves; this is normal and OK.

- Empty your Recycle Bin.

3. Reboot normally, run hijackThis again, and post a fresh log.
