Virus? HiJackThis results

Expand Post »
Hi Folks, I am having a bit of trouble with a users laptop.
Its running very slow and everytime I google anything it takes me to some dodgey search engine or a website that is totally unrelated.

I have HiJackThis results but have no idea where to start, could anyone advise which is the culprit?

Re: Virus? HiJackThis results

Open Device Manager and on the VIEW Tab, select the Show hidden devices option.
Go down to non plug and play drivers and see if there is one called TDSSserv and disable it.
Reboot your pc and try and run MBAM again.
If successful, reboot and post a log from MBAM and a new hijackthis log.

Don't forget to do a FULL scan with MBAM and delete what it finds.

Re: Virus? HiJackThis results

That is amazing! I disabled it like you said, rebooted and I am currently running a full MBAM scan. I will post back the results asap.

As soon as I rebooted after I had disabled TDSserv, the anti virus sprang back to life, detecting loads of trojans.
Would this have prevented Kasperski from functioning properly?

Re: Virus? HiJackThis results

Yes it could..... cause it could be the virus.....

So just post back with the MBA-M log and then a fresh hijackthis, and then we can continue.

Thanks,

Cohen

Definitely. Make certain that MBAM is updated before scanning (latest version is 1.31 and definition 1525) and do a full scan.
I'll be waiting
