Search engine redirect virus (most commonly to a site called shopica.com)

I have been trying for days to get rid of this search engine redirect virus to no avail. I have run several anti-spyware programs and have had no success.

I ran through the DaniWeb pre assistance request protocol and my problem remains.

Essentially the problem is that when I do a google search I am usually able to click the first link with no problems, but any link I click on after that forwards me to one of several shopping sites, most commonly one called shopica.com. There have been a couple of occasions that the problem seemed to go away briefly after running several of the programs as instructed by the protocol pinned at the top of of this forum. I can briefly successfully complete searches without being redirected, but the problem inevitably returns in a matter of a few minutes or a few hours.

Can you please do the following.

Can you disable Windows Defender as it may interfere with the removal process. Please leave it disabled until your PC has been given the all clear.Open Windows Defender
Click Tools
Click General Settings
Scroll down to Real Time Protection Options
Uncheck Turn on Real Time Protection (recommended)
After you uncheck this, click on the Save button
Close Windows Defender

Crunchie, thanks for your help. I really appreciate you taking time to assist me. So far your fix seems to have worked. I have done 15 google searches and clicked every link on the first page of results for each search and have not yet had a redirect problem. I have rerun HijackThis and posted the log below. I never use Internet Explorer, but I checked just now to see if it is affected and it is. Firefox is my primary browser and is affected as well. As far as I can tell Flock does not appear to be affected, but again, I never use it, so my understanding of whether or not the problem is affected that browser is limited to the searches I attempted today.

So far as I can tell the issue seems to have been resolved and has not returned in the past 6 or 7 hours, so hopefully I am in the clear at this point. Is there any other follow up I need to do?

Let's get rid of Combofix now that we are finished with it. Click START then RUN
Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK. Note the space between the X and the /, it needs to be there.
