Browser address bar no longer visible

Expand Post »
After doing some research on the web I noted that my IE6 address bar is no longer visible. I also note that the address bar and links are checked to be visible in the "Toolbar" drop-down menu of the browser. However they are no longer active. Needless to say I got into something not desirable.

I have run WinClean 8.0 / AdawareSE / SpyBot & have virus protection turned on in realtime mode. Still can't seem to find the fix.

I ran HiJackthis and have posted the log below. The PC seems to be performing well but I can't seem to get the browser address bar back. Any suggestions. With thanks, Jim B

Re: Browser address bar no longer visible

I did a bit more research and found the answer to my missing address bar issue. The fix is as follows:

Delete the WebBrowser registry key

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar
*. Right-click the WebBrowser key, click Delete, and then click Yes.
*. Open Internet Explorer, click View, and then point to Toolbars. The toolbar default settings are restored.
