Can anyone help me investigate what's going on here? Cheers.

It's getting worse now. Whenever I pointed my cursor to the messenger window and tried to scroll through contacts, the messenger will crash, leaving the same error message.

More info needed, as malware rarely infects a single application. Are any other issues being noticed, or other applications being affected?

If not the issue may be Windows Messenger specific, such as a corrupted install or other incompatibilities.

I don't see any other applications affected. Everything is per normal, only windows live messenger behaves weirdly.

I have uninstalled, remove any files associated with windows live messenger in the hard drive and registry, and just installed a fresh new messenger again. But the crashes still happen.

It also happen when I minimized the messenger to the tray. Once it's minimized, that's it, it stopped working.

Have you tried installing an earlier release? It maybe upgraded versions starting to move away from XP (just a thought). Ideas not coming straight to mind but am extremely tired at present.

One thing I would suggest is taking your problem over to the "Windows NT / 2000 / XP / 2003" boards, as can say is most likely not a malware issue - will get the most help there... just be sure to advise in initial post that Messenger to only problematic application so they don't jump on the malware wagon and send you back here :)
