Hi,
First, see in event manager in system part, if there are any critical error. Something like HD error. It looks like, that certain part on HD is doing problems. If there are no errors written, then run the system/HD check when restarting. Then go back to event manager and see the results. If I would be you, I would start back-up of all personal things. Like photoes, emails.... (if it is HD)
Then download a live cd of any kind (UBCD, lunix distro, miniPE...) and do the HD surface test and other tests.
If the results are non-error, then try to not run the browser and at the same work on the OS. This can be also related to I/O error. Does it shows the BSOD? If not, then please chcek, if it is setup to show. After the reboot there should be an entry in event manager. By EventID you can find out what is the problem.

[QUOTE=record59;1053195]Hi,
I have been having problems with random shut downs. I was only using IE and it started, so I installed Firefox and it was ok but now it's doing it there also. Sometimes it shuts Firefox down 2-4 times in a row(then I give up) and then will totally shut computer down. It restarts and wants to run disc check.
Sometimes I might go to do something in my computer, say play a game and it will do it.
I ran across this forum while searching for help. I went and got HijackThis and ran it. Below is the log. Appreciate any help you could give.
Thanks,
Patty
