Everytime I do a search on Google, or Bing, or w/e, then I click on a link, it redirects me to advertisements over and over, I have to click like 5 different times to get where I want to go. Any help is appreciated!! Thanks!

P.S. heres my registry:

C:\Program Files\Sunbelt Software\CounterSpy\SBAMSvc.exe
C:\Program Files\Sunbelt Software\CounterSpy\SBAMTray.exe
C:\Program Files\Sunbelt Software\CounterSpy\SBPIMSvc.exe
C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe

Not certain what you mean by the above as this is not the registry.

The HiJackThis log you posted is incomplete. We need to see the entire log from top to bottom.

Please follow the steps given here http://www.daniweb.com/forums/thread134865.html and post back with all the requested logs.

You also are running Two Anti-virus programs or portions of two at least, Norton and AVG 8. AVG 8 would be likely out of date as there is a new version out now. I do not know what version of Norton you are running but one of these programs needs to be 100% removed ASAP. Running two anti-virus programs on one computer just adds to the possibility of infection.

I am a total beginner. I am seeing maybe three malware programs, general services and programs that wouldn't cause a problem. The defaults are the norm. The top is listing running only one malware program running at the time of the scan report. What happened to Spybot? Lightscribe and other things appear to be running in the Start Menu, but the only running program at the time of the scan was one malware program.

It isn't that anyone minds helping out. When a newbie like me can see something wrong with that scan, you really are insulting the intelligence of the majority of members here. They are talking about Python and I thought that was a snake.

You aren't the first and wont be the last to hit a free porn site and get whacked with a deadly virus. Was it a seeded torrent for a .avi that you opened and got more than you bargained for, but it was a 'free' movie. No one can help you until you provide accurate info.

Hey I will ASAP having connection problems right now, and as a reply to the rude post by kathykat63, it wasn't a porn site or anything like hat, it was a torrent for Spyware Doctor, and talk about newbie, at least I know what Python is. I didn't mean to insult anyone's intelligence if I did btw, but I am asking forhelp so please be polite, and thank you very much jholland1964.

Where are all the requested logs? We have to see the logs in order to know what, if any, next steps to take.

Ok good. First of all you have SpyBot TeaTimer running. It is known to interfere with any fixes attempted so you need to turn that off first thing.
To disable Spybot's TeaTimer

* Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode
* If it is not already set to do this, go to the Mode menu
select
Advanced Mode
* On the left hand side, click on Tools
* Then click on the Resident icon in the list
* Uncheck
Resident TeaTimer
and OK any prompts.
* Restart your computer

Next your Java is woefully out of date. You are running version 1.5 Current version is 6 update 20.
You should go to the sunjava website;
http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

Download the Offline Install file, 2nd one down, and save it to the desk top.
Then close all browsers and go to Add/Remove and Uninstall all instances of Java that you find there.
Once it is uninstalled then double click that Java install file on the desk top to install the newest version. Watch the install closely, often times there are extra tool bars included that you do not need. They will be noted at the bottom of one of the install pages, take the check mark OUT before continuing on. Once the install is complete then go back to the download page and on the right side click Verify Now to go to the verification page to assure the install was successful.

Next do the following:
Please Run the ESET Online Scanner and attach the ScanLog with your post for assistance.

* You will need to use Internet Explorer to to complete this scan.
* You will need to temporarily Disable your current Anti-virus program.

* Be sure the option to Remove found threats is checked and the option to Scan unwanted applications is Checked.

* When you have completed that scan, a scanlog ought to have been created and located at C:\Program Files\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt. Please post that log for us as directed below.

Reboot the computer. You are using the old version of HiJackThis so you need to go to Add/Remove and Uninstall that old version 2.02.
Once you have done that please download the newest version HiJackThis version 2.04 from here; http://free.antivirus.com/hijackthis/

Run a System Scan with it, save the log. Post back here with the ESET log and the new HiJackThis log.

Bubbaman, I wasn't rude, I was RIGHT. A torrent is what caused the page flipping problem. Did you know that piracy (a term equating to theft) was illegal? Porn isn't, just high risk. Spyware Doctor is a $30 program. Legal versions do not come in torrent form or have a keygen. Just a word of caution. My daughter seeded a bunch of programs on her boyfriends computer. A cop and the cable company came to the door shutting down dad's internet service. They were both minors at the time and the matter was not pursued. You might go to jail over it.

The omission of loading a torrent as the cause of the page turner virus and the fact that it was a malware program would indicate you had a problems prior. That is why I told you that no one can help if you aren't honest and was right again. While I have my crystal ball out, that free torrent for a $30 program wasn't free at all. You got more than you bargained for and jholland is walking you through it because she is nice. Get some estimates for repairing your computer, if you don't believe me.

I WANT THREE POINTS!

You were not honest and I am not rude. Actually, I am pretty nice. Your computer looks very similar to mine. See if your HP recovery DVD is the same that was issued for HP Pavillion dv9925nr. HP used this software on many models. I have two LEGAL copies and you need it now. They are $16 on the HP site.

On initial glance at running process at your edited scan, your system hasn't been maintained. Over time, that one can bite you. Some things are known to be a bit risky, which isn't helping matters. Your computer is headed for a crash. You probably have too many malware and registry errors at this point.

You may be able to salvage, but that one is going to take a bit of expertise and time. I tried salvaging mine and my brain still hurts from researching it. I had the opposite problem. My computer was a little to clean. I let a registry cleaner repetitively eat system files. In time, that one came back to bite me and ended up with a dismal crash. Check out cnet.com for freeware registry cleaners. Set a restore point as a just in case before running.

Some malware passes right by protective programs. They look like system files or dll's, but there is maybe a capitol letter instead or the system lower case or two letters or numbers are transposed. If you save anything, it may pass right by a clean install and your going to be right back where you started.

bubbaman, Please ignore the recommendations given by another concerning the use of an automated registry cleaner, this is very bad advice. A tech I have long respected said once:
"Using an automated cleaner to try to fix a problem is akin to using a shotgun to remove an appendix . The best way to deal with (possibly) registry-related issues is is to throughly research the problem and then use regedit to make any necessary changes and/or deletions (having first set a restore point or created a backup)."...this is advice I have always adhered to and always advice others the same. Stay away from these types of programs, you are only asking for trouble. At this point "playing with" the registry is not the answer. So IGNORE the suggestion given.

Just noticed in your Add/Remove you also still have One Symantec file listed, which also is still running on your system and that is the
LiveUpdate 3.0 (Symantec Corporation). You also need to go into Add/Remove and Uninstall this one also. It is very easy to miss when doing the uninstalls.
If it will not uninstall then download and run this Norton Removal tool to be certain that all the Norton/Symantec files are removed from the computer.
ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

Do the above, and the other steps I have given you. I have referred this thread to one of the other mods here, crunchie, so he will be reviewing it all also. So you may have one or more comments from crunchie and also PhilliePhan concerning the logs.

Bubbaman. Stay as far as you can from registry cleaners and bad advice :).
Your GMER log looks clear. I will look again once you have posted the Eset log.

kathykat63. As you are a self-admitted newby, please refrain from posting in the hijackthis forums, unless you require help.

If people who come here for help have gone to places where infections can be picked up, we will advise them, not judge them, as you appear to have done.
If you continue being rude to our other members, your stay here will be brief.

I am a total beginner. I am seeing maybe three malware programs, general services and programs that wouldn't cause a problem. The defaults are the norm. The top is listing running only one malware program running at the time of the scan report.

This is a good reason not to post help to hijackthis logs.
One needs to know the difference between Malware and Anti-Malware before giving advice.

Now, close all instances of Internet Explorer and any other windows you have open except HiJackThis, click "Fix checked".

Locate and delete the following item(s), if present. Make sure you are able to view system and hidden files/ folders:

files...

C:\WINDOWS\ALCMTR.EXE

Search for...

paloyihi.dll

...using "Start / Search...".

-

Note that some of these file(s)/folder(s) may or may not be present. If present, and cannot be deleted because they're "in use", try deleting them in "Safe Mode" by doing the following:

  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear.
  • Select the first option to run Windows in "Safe Mode" hit enter.
  • Reboot.

Download OTL to your Desktop.

  • Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
  • Under the "Custom Scan" box paste this in:

list:

netsvcs
%SYSTEMDRIVE%\*.exe
/md5start
eventlog.dll
scecli.dll
netlogon.dll
cngaudit.dll
sceclt.dll
ntelogon.dll
logevent.dll

nvstor32.sys
/md5stop
%systemroot%\*. /mp /s
%systemroot%\system32\*.dll /lockedfiles
%systemroot%\System32\config\*.sav
CREATERESTOREPOINT
  • Click the "Quick Scan" button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.

  • When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows: OTL.txt and Extras.txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.

  • Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of these files, one at a time, and post them back here.
