a little advise please

i have winXP and i think my computer has contracted a virus that does not allow me to open windows task manger or hjt and i think it causes ad-aware to freeze up w/o finishing its scan. has anyone else had this problem before and has advice? any would be very appreciated.

Boot windows in Safemode w/ networking.

Go here:http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ to scan you computer for viruses.

For spyware/adware/malware scanning, download, install, update, and run...
[Adaware]
[Spybot Search & Destroy]

Download and run...
[Hijackthis]

Hijackthis will give you a log file after running. Analyze your log with...

joeman3285. If you decide to download hijackthis, we prefer that you post the log here for analysis.
I do not recommend using automated online scanners for hijackthis logs.
