Hey, welcome to Daniweb. To begin, I see several things wrong with the log. Start by first uninstalling MessengerPlus3 using the Add/Remove programs list.

Then, follow this by checking the following in HJT:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = localhost
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CTHelper] CTHELPER.EXE
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MessengerPlus3] "C:\Program Files\MessengerPlus! 3\MsgPlus.exe"
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MessengerPlus3] "C:\Program Files\MessengerPlus! 3\MsgPlus.exe" /WinStart
O18 - Protocol: msnim - {828030A1-22C1-4009-854F-8E305202313F} - "C:\PROGRA~1\MSNMES~1\msgrapp.dll" (file missing)
O23 - Service: System Restore Service (srservice) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe (file missing)

After fixing these, reboot into safe mode. While in safe mode, find and delete this folder if it is there:

C:\Program Files\MessengerPlus! 3

After doing this, reboot into normal mode, and download CCleaner and Ewido (links for both can be found in my sig. below). After updating definitions for both, run scans with each, saving the Ewido log.

After doing this, be sure everything is set to startup in the startup list (if ya dont understand what I mean, don't worry about it). Restar the computer.

After doing this, post back with the saved ewido log and a new HJT log.

Lastly, are ya having any problems, or do ya just want us to go over your log? (either one is ok, im jus curious heh)

Thanks

'Stein

You don't need to worry about downloading ewido as it seems you already have it installed ;).

Yeah I'm having problems. My windows firewall can't open, my system restore won't work, and my firefox quits if I have bittorrent running on high volume.

Ok - nothing showing in that log, but your 023 service is still there because it has to be Disabled and deleted.

Fixing it in HijackThis does not solve the problem.

Go to Start>Run and type Services.msc
-Right click System Restore Service and choose Stop if its not greyed out
-Now choose Properties and change the Startup Type to disabled

Open HijackThis
-Choose Open Misc Tools
-Choose Delete an NT Service
-Enter System Restore Service and delete it.

Now scan and check the following line in HijackThis if it exists
O23 - Service: System Restore Service (srservice) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe (file missing)Let me know if your problem still persists...

That line doesn't show on my hijackthis report, also, system restore was already stopped when I opened services.msc, it wasn't disabled so I did that. Then in hijackthis, System Restore ervice was not found when I used the NT Service deleting tool.

The line is still there in your HijackThis log, if this is a new one, then you need to re-do my previous steps about disabling and deleting this service, you told me it was not in the log
O23 - Service: System Restore Service (srservice) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe (file missing)

For the Delete an NT Service, make sure you copy and paste the exact name it shows in Services.msc

It may show (srservice)

I tried your instructyions, but my services.msc shows System Restore Service as the name but hijackthis can't find it in the registry. Also, when I open services.msc it is already stopped and I cannot start it, I get an error message 123: The filename, directory name, or vokume label syntax is incorrect.

Ok here is the problem

System Restore Service is legit with the service name srservice

But, the directory C:\WINDOWS\C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe is all whack.

So this is what I want you to try. See if System Restore is disabled.

Right click My Computer
-Choose Properties
-Choose System Restore tab

Is it on or off?

Alright - if you go to C:\WINDOWS with the Viewing of Hidden Files and Folders enabled, do you see a C: in there?

It is showing C:\WINDOWS\C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe and the correct path is C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs

Download WinPFind
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/winpfind.php
-Follow step 9 here on how to properly run it:
http://wiki.castlecops.com/Vundo_Rootkit_Detection_and_Removal_Procedure
-Save the log and attach for me

Also Open HijackThis
-Choose Open Misc Tools
-Choose Generate Startup List
-Check both options to the right and answer Yes

Attach both logs when returning.

Ok here's my WinPFind report:

WARNING: not all files found by this scanner are bad. Consult with a knowledgable person before proceeding.

If you see a message in the titlebar saying "Not responding..." you can ignore it. Windows somethimes displays this message due to the high volume of disk I/O. As long as the hard disk light is flashing, the program is still working properly.
