Help Window Pops up, HELP!! Really Annoying

This has been going on for a while, every time i open up a web page or a program the help window pops up, I close it and then click on the page that I want to see and the window pops up again, it doesn't let me type because it keeps going back the the help window. I have tried reinstalling Windows XP and completely erasing everything from my computer and I still have the same problem. What should I do I can't even browse a page or start a program without having this annoying help window pop up.

Ths is just a workaround but how about disabling the Help and Support service?
Click Start, choose Run, execute services.msc, double click on Help and Support and set it to disabled.

By the way what service pack do you have installed 1 or 2?

Well if you have SP1 and no firewall you might have some viruses there. It wouldn't hurt to post a HT log on the spyware forum.

HT =Hijackthis ,you can download it here , http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html
install it then click scan ,and copy and paste the log in here ! do not fix anything with HJT with out being told to do so by a expert on the program first .

I suspect this could be one of two things.

Either a damaged keyboard F1 key.. or a virus infection.
People would say that it shouldnt happen after formatting. Perhaps you are installing a pre WinXP SP2 copy of Windows and getting infected as soon as you get online?

Everyone, I just dealt with this issue.

Likely problem: Your keyboard's F1 key is malfunctioning. F1 is the shortcut to the Help dialogue (at least for Windows Explorer and Google Chrome, which is where I experienced my issues).

If you're on a laptop, search YouTube for a video on how to remove the keyboard from your particular laptop model. Remove the keyboard, and see if the problem persists. While the keyboard is disconnected, you can use the On-Screen Keyboard. If the problem goes away, you've pinpointed the malfunctioning component: your keyboard!

Unfortunately, that will probably mean you need to purchase a new keyboard. But, at least you'll know how to install it on your own after watching the YouTube video!

Disclaimer: follow my advice at your own discretion. I am by no means a tech expert.
