Read only files

I was told my PC had viruses. I saved all word plrograms to a disk before having my computer worked on. None of th programs were read only programs. I was told that the viruses changed the files to read only files. Is this possible? Can I change them back? I have tried changing the properties of these files, but have had no luck.

Download hijackThis. Extract it to its own folder. Then run it and select. Do system scan and save log. Post the contents of the log that pops up.

Then we will remove the virus.

As for read only. Right click it, select properties, select the general tab, uncheck read only.

Oops. sorrry forgot you said you tried changing properties. Just still post the log.
