Re: my HJT log, 2 of them for 2 comp

I will just concentrate on the first one for now. They both need work, but the first has THE hardest to remove hijacker yet. We'll get rid of some of the easy trash first, then go on to the main prize. You have to do all the work so I wish you well.

You have the peper trojan. Download the removal tool from here & allow it to proceed with it's fix. There will be no dialogue. Note that you must be online when you run the tool for it to be effective. You must then reboot your computer.

Unzip HJT into it's own permanent folder before doing anything in order for it to create backups. (Not a temporary folder or the desktop & not directly on your hard drive). Close all (browser) windows & rescan with hijackthis. When the scan is finished place a check in the box to the left of the following entries & click 'fix checked' :

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

Re: my HJT log, 2 of them for 2 comp

k, ithe link you gave to uninstall peper trojon gave me a file that didnt work so i googled peper trojan and went to http://www.kephyr.com and DL bazooka spyware scanner. that removed about 90% of what you want in HJT. then i finished off what you wanted in HJT that bazooka didnt find.

what now? I still get hijacked attempts on the computer so its not fully free from crap

PS: i no oticed you help a lot of people with the HJT logs, so in case you dont hear it from every1 else, THANK YOU crunchie for your time and effort

sry, prev post is wrg; hijack attemps have finally stopped, i know because the hijacked page was about:blank but contained a annoying search page, but not when IE opened the about:blank was actually blank

k, 1 comp down, 1 to go

thanks again
I would keep a look out because all these entries have not been fixed & they are a sure sign of the latest CWS infection.

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\bimmiha.dll/sp.html (obfuscated)

What went wrong with the link I gave? that is the one I give out all the time. As I wrote B4, there is no dialogue during the removal, & you need to be on line. I would like to see another log from that one if I can.

Re: my HJT log, 2 of them for 2 comp

May as well do the second log for now. First of all we have to remove Newdotnet, either from add/remove programs, or by going here. & scrolling down to the uninstall tool.

Then Unzip HJT into it's own permanent folder before doing anything in order for it to create backups. (Not a temporary folder or the desktop & not directly on your hard drive). Close all (browser) windows & rescan with hijackthis. When the scan is finished place a check in the box to the left of the following entries & click 'fix checked' :

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch = res://C:\PROGRA~1\Toolbar\toolbar.dll/sa
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,CustomizeSearch = res://C:\PROGRA~1\Toolbar\toolbar.dll/sa
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {8952A998-1E7E-4716-B23D-3DBE03910972} - (no file)

O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {339BB23F-A864-48C0-A59F-29EA915965EC} - (no file)
O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {CC90CDA0-74A0-45b4-80EF-D89CA8C249B8} - (no file)

O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - http://software-dl.real.com/1667ba5...ip/RdxIE601.cab

Delete this folder after a reboot: C:\PROGRA~1\Toolbar<<<<

Thats all.

Re: my HJT log, 2 of them for 2 comp

k, and i dont know what went wrong last time but the file worked this time. All I have done on the 1st computer is run the file you gave. Should I remove
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\bimmiha.dll/sp.html (obfuscated)

I took a new step to help protect things in the future, setting all xp accounts to restricted and 1 admin only when somethings needs to be done(my main login is restricted too and made a seperate admin to use when I need it).Hopefully this is a proactive step, what do you think about it?

k, i am now going to work on the laptop

PS: dont worry about time, I have studing to do and so I have plenty of time to spare.
