Firewall attacks, how many is normal?

Hi all,
Just a quick question. I've recently installed PC-Cillin on my computer, with its built in firewall. I'm kinda ashamed to say it, but this is the firt time I've had a firewall on my pc. Anyway viewing the logs, it shows I'm getting on average 4 or 5 attacks per minute. Is this normal, and if so what's causing it? I've removed all the spyware from my system and my latest Hijack This log is in another post Here http://www.daniweb.com/techtalkforums/thread6438.html .

Just curious really, so any info would be good.

Cheers

Phil

by the way I'm running windows 98 SE an IE 6.1

A lot of what is being logged is just normal internet *noise* along with your ISP checking when you are on line. I have 6 listings in my log for the last 5 minutes.
I would say that your firewall is just doing it's job. If it is blocking outbound signals, that's when you should make sure it's a legitimate program asking for access to the net.
