Check to see if the following is OK

My Computer
  Documents and Settings
    (your user name)
Desktop <---- (your icons should be here)

I can find the icons. That;s not the problem. Every time I start my computer the icons are gone. I know how and where to find them. Everytime I fix it (via: Windows Task Manager - New task - c:/windows.exe) and then restart the computer they are gone again. This has to be some sort of bug.

Also, thank you very much for looking Midi!! I am checking your suggestion now.
I am still searching for someone to look at my log for me also!

Help! Can anyone look at my hijacthis data and tell me what to do???

Help! Can anyone look at my hijacthis data and tell me what to do???

==Download fixwareout from http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/lonny/Fixwareout.exe - and save it to your desktop.
Double click Fixwareout.exe to start the Fixwareout Setup Wizard, click next and then install. Ensure that Run fixit is checked, and click on Finish. After the fix follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer, and it may take longer than usual to load - this is normal.

Next check some settings....In control panel select the Network and Internet Connections , rclick on your default connection, usually local area connection for cable and dsl, and lclick on properties. Click the Networking tab. Dclick on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item and select Obtain DNS servers automatically. Press OK twice to get out of the properties screen and reboot if it asks.

Now flush the DNS cache: Go Start > Run, type cmd and click OK.
In the command screen, type in cd\ and then press Enter. Now type in ipconfig /flushdns and then Enter. [space after ipconfig]. Type Exit.

FIX CHECKED ENTRIES....!!
Start Hijackthis, do a Scan Only and place checkmarks against all of the following that exist, and then press Fix Checked:

- to run it dclick combofix.exe and follow the prompts to start it. When finished, it will produce a log, C:\Combofix.txt - post that log in your next reply.
A word of caution - do not touch your mouse/keyboard until the scan has completed. The scan will temporarily disable your desktop, and if interrupted may leave your desktop disabled. If this occurs, please reboot to restore the desktop.

Okay, please run HT again and repost with the fixwareout, combofix and smitfraudfix logs.

When I start my computer my desk top icon's won't load. I have run Hijacthis and here is what popped up. Also, I've included my startup list. Thank you for any and all of anyone's help!

Hi.

I had similar problems and worse, my desktop took about 15 minutes to load. The entire Desktop area was visible but inactive. But fortunately, my Start toolbar was available in-between, and I could use other programs through the Start Menu while waiting for the entire desktop to load.

The real culprit is the "spoolsv" process. While waiting for the desktop to load, bring up the task manager (ctrl-alt-delete or by right clicking the Start Toolbar if one is available), and kill the "spoolsv" process. Dont worry because you can still print your documents afterwards. Your desktop icons should be activated and visible immediately after killing the process. It had something to do with your printer installation or configuration.

Don't bother disabling other TSRs or programs or even using the HijackThis program. It won't help since the real culprit is the 'legitimate' one.

Hope this help.
