IE shuts down automatically- ever since I downloaded Windows Security Patch a month a

Expand Post »
Ever since I downloaded the XP security patch about a month ago, my IE has been crashing consistently. It's strange- I can use IE, but I have to open up 2 IE windows and use the second one because the first consistently shuts itself down.

I took my computer in to have it looked at, and 250.00 later I still have the problem!! I heard from someone that I should use the XP boot disk and check for problems- I got my XP from a friend 2 years ago and I don't have a boot disc, but I can get ahold of one.

I also cleaned the inside of my computer (which wasn't all that dusty) and I ran 2 different spyware programs- Spybot and Adaware.

I downloaded Hijackthis and ran a scan. I didn't delete anything. Here are the results of the scan: Can anyone understand this? I sure don't! :o

Hi Lizzytish; there is a notice at the top of this forum requesting all HijackThis logs be posted in the Security forum. You can either post a new thread there or wait for one of the Mods to move it for you.

You should also have a look through this thread to see if there is anything that may help you out:

You can't move it, you would have to post a new one. A moderator should move it, but sometimes things get overlooked -- they're only human after all, not error-free like computers!
