buffer overrun

I'm running windows 98 se and explorer version 6 its started showing buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program' s internal state the program can no longer continue execution and must now be terminated! when I try to run it any ideas I'm only a novice

when you say IT do you mean IE6 or win98 .
With you win98 cd handy try this ,go to Start /Run ,type in ,SFC and check for and repair corrupt or missing system files .
