You may have to download a program like HiJackThis and pull that out of your registry. Most likely, what happened is that some popup had malicious code in it. That code was able to edit your browser settings and add in the web page to your history.

HiJackThis can be found through a Google search. Once you've run it, post the results here, or in a security forum, and maybe one of us can tell what the offending registry entry is. While you're at it, type the domain name of the "bad" website into a Google search. Most likely, someone else has run into your problem and has figured out the solution to it.

One final note: If possible, run Windows Update and get your system up to date on security patches. While it won't neccesarily fix your problem, it may prevent it from happening again.

MyWebSearch and possibly other spyware is there, probably downloaded with Smiley Central. That's what stands out.

First of all go to Control panel...add/remove programs

uninstall :-

newdot (new net domains)

Look for Web3000 or n-case and uninstall

Also uninstall Gator

Do NOT run any other removal programs before doing the above or you could lose your internet connection

click the online tab to search for and download the updates, then shut down and relaunch SpyBot.

Go to the Settings tab > File Sets, and uncheck 'System Internals' and 'Tracks' .
These aren't needed for our present purpose, and you can always experiment with them later on.

Finally, after closing down Internet Explorer, click 'Check for problems', and have SpyBot remove all it finds 'Fix selected problems'

you may have to run spybot more than once to clear everything

Remove everything pre-ticked in Red

then post a new log and we'll remove what has been missed...manually

Go to Tools/internet options/

Click :-

Delete cookies

Delete files

Clear history


Also the index.dat file keeps a record of all sites visited.....Download this program and use it to delete your index.dat file (it will be recreated clean and new when you reboot)
