Faulty default homepage

Expand Post »
My 'Internet Properties' message box has suddenly decided to adopt the data
http://%61%63%63%2e%63%6f%75%6e%74%2d%61%6c%6c%2e%63%6f%6d/%2d/?%63%78%6c%6f%77 as it's default homepage (it's a search engine site).
Despite never visiting this site, and my constant deletion to all it's references in the registry, it still reappears at every start up.
Any help as to how to send the scoundrel packing once and for all would be much appreciated!

Re: Faulty default homepage

It's a CWS hijacker,

Please Download hijackthis from

http://www.merijn.org/files/hijackthis.zip

Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

After the scan has finished the "scan" button will turn into a "save log" button

save the log file and paste it here

Do not delete anything yet, as most things hijackthis finds are harmless and needed.
