Script problems with IE

Expand Post »
Ok, about eighteen hours ago I deleted a leftover Norton AntiVirus 2004 folder, Symantec Shared, that contained script blocking files that were....well, blocking scripts. Then there was a massive unrelated problem with the video card that took a while to fix. However after finally getting the PC going again, I can't do many things script-related on IE. For example, I cannot even log in on Neveron (a web-based game that uses many scripts) or even simple things like clicking on smilies/emoticons when posting on a few forums. So, does anyone know how to fix this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh, and if anyone knows anything about my previous posted problem http://www.daniweb.com/techtalkforums/thread2524.html, please reply. Thankyou.

Re: Script problems with IE

You say it was a leftover Norton AV folder. Does that mean that you uninstalled Norton and it was still leftover on your system after the uninstall? If you have Norton still installed, first try to do a repair of the current installation. If you're unable to do so, do an Uninstall and then a Reinstall.

Re: Script problems with IE

Well, the thing is...I deleted Norton, not uninstalled like I should have done, which was why there was a leftover folder. Also, I am pleased to say that most of the script problems have been eliminated by reinstalling IE 6.0. However, there are still a few things wrong - Windows Update doesn't work, and I still can't log in to Neveron. I did click View Source on the Neveron error page though, and noticed a few VBScript references. I think Neveron is based on VBScript and not Java like I thought. So, does anyone know of a VBScript download that might fix these problems?

Re: Script problems with IE

Fixed it! I downloaded and installed MS VBscript 5.6, and both Nev and Windows Update work fine. I'd like to thank cscgal and caperjack for their helpful assistance. Thanks!
