Removing Bridge.dll

Expand Post »
For a couple of weeks I been having an error message come up post startup. It sais something along the line of ""C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\BRIDGE.DLL" could not be found". I've posted in one of the Windows forums not knowing what it was. Found out it was spyware and was told to delete it using hijackthis. It seemed to solve the problem, but now it's back. I tried using hijackthis again, but it came back again. Anybody know how to permenintly solve this problem?

I recommend spybot over adaware.......

Have Hijack This fix the following by placing a check in the appropriate boxes and selecting fix checked. Make sure all browser and all Windows Explorer windows are closed before fixing.

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Stationery\Blank.htm
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName =

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {D8E25C53-9508-4f5c-9249-D98D438891D5} - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SSURF022.DLL (file missing)
O2 - BHO: Clear Search - {947E6D5A-4B9F-4CF4-91B3-562CA8D03313} - (no file)

O16 - DPF: {E8EDB60C-951E-4130-93DC-FAF1AD25F8E7} - http://cdn.climaxbucks.com/internet-...istIOcrack.CAB

Reboot and delete:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\SSUpdate.exe <-- file
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\BRIDGE.DLL <-- file
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\A.EXE <-- file

NOTE: To avoid the risk of any of the above not being found due to them having the 'Hidden' attribute, first make sure that in Folder Options > View hidden and operating system files are set to show:
How to Show Hidden/System Files
http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html

Download Ad-Aware at http://lavasoft.element5.com/support/download/
After installing AAW, and before running the program, update by using the Globe icon.
Shut down and restart Ad-Aware.
Now press "Scan Now", "Select drives\folders to scan" and select the active partition (usually C: ), then 'next', and let Ad-Aware scan your drives.
It will find a number of "bad" files and registry keys. Click 'Next' again.
Rightclick in that pane and choose "select all" and click 'next'.
It will ask you whether you'd like to remove all checked items. Click OK.
Finally, close Ad-Aware, and reboot.

Re: Removing Bridge.dll

PantherAHA, a bunch of those aren't in hijackthis. Should I just delete all instances of BRIDGE.DLL, because there is also one under 02-BHO. What's this SSUpdate? There's nothing about that in hijackthis, but the file is in the SYSTEM folder, along with an uninstall.

If you want to continue to use IE with all of it's security shortcomings, I suggest you download spywareblaster from
here
it will prevent spyware from being installed to start with. Or, you can download & install Opera browser which has NONE of IE's vulnerabilities.

EDIT. Sorry, I quoted the wrong poster.

Re: Removing Bridge.dll

hmmm...you know what caperjack, I thought this was a forum where people could go to get help, had I known it was your personal forum for displaying just how obnoxious you could be I would go elsewhere...

SCYTH02:

That is from another board where the same problem existed. And the fix that was used to resolve it. But from what I have read all instances of bridge.dll should be deleted.

Re: Removing Bridge.dll

run.dll bridge.dll error quick solution. (well it worked for me)
Download "Advanced Uninstaller Pro 2004" from www.innovative.go.ro
Run the "Start-up" feature & you have a choice of disabling or removing the Bridge.dll or removing it, along with other puter pains! You will end up with a cleaner, faster puter too. Many features with this program. Gosh! they will be offering me a job if i carry on!
